Technical gear for mountain sports
We have had an enduring and productive partnership with Eddie Bauer and First Ascent. Projects have included backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, luggage, clothing and much more. We’ve been instrumental in the development of the very most technical backpacks in Eddie Bauer’s First Ascent brand, both past and present. It all started with the original Alchemist 40 liter which broke the mold for a versatile backpack. The Alchemist is expandable from 40 to 55 liters and is fully functional in each mode. Designed to be the quintessential “one pack” and a problem solver piece of equipment. This versatile pack won Outside Magazine’s 2012 Gear of the Year award and has several patented parts. We built upon the design of the Alchemist to create the Sorcerer. The pack is streamlined but still the most advanced pack ever built with high tech CTF3 material. It weighs over a pound less than the Alchemist but has the same features and volume and improved durability. The Sorcerer pack was the winner of the 2014 Men’s Journal Gear of the Year award. Our design innovations continue with the latest iteration of the Alchemist (based on the Sorcerer’s design) and every other pack in the First Ascent line from the lightweight Bacon to the fully featured Alpine Sisu. Gear in this line has won several awards over the years, including Elevation Outdoors’ 2015 Peak Gear Award for the Maximus Duffel, Mens Journal’s 2014 Gear of the Year award for the Sorcerer Backpack and Women’s Health 2018 Fitness Award for the Bacon 2.0 pack.
